Femme Fatale in Furs, Frankie, and Auntie's Got Issues. The Horrors of 1969.

We have reached the end of the decade my sweets. The 1960s were a little bit of a horror lull between the giant out of control creatures and the Hammer high of the 1950s and the gritty slasher killers of the 1970s. Yet still, as a horror fan, the was plenty to get creeped out on.

1969

1.  Paroxismus aka Venus in Furs (Directed by Jess Franco)
IMDB plot: A musician finds the corpse of a beautiful woman on the beach. The woman returns from the dead to take revenge on the group of wealthy sadists responsible for her death.

2. Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed (Directed by Terence Fisher)
IMDB plot: Baron Frankenstein, with the aid of a young doctor and his fiancée, kidnaps the mentally sick Dr. Brandt in order to perform the first brain transplant operation.

3. What Ever Happened to Aunt Alice? (Directed by Lee H. Katzin, Bernard Girard)
IMDB plot: An aging widow hides a deadly secret which she will do anything to keep buried.

"It's 1969 ok
We got a war across the USA
There's nothing here for me and you
We're just sitting here with nothing to do"
-The Stooges

See you ghouls tomorrow for a whole new decade. xoxo

The Dead Walk, The Devil Lives, and What Have You Done to my Baby's Eyes. The Horrors of 1968

Damn, 1968 was a grand year for horror. Romero brings you the modern zombie film, Rosemary's baby has her father's eyes, and Christopher Lee brings on the Devil.

1968

2. Rosemary's Baby (Directed by Roman Polanski)
IMDB plot: A young couple trying for a baby move into a fancy apartment surrounded by peculiar neighbors.

3. The Devil Rides Out (Directed by Terence Fisher)

Bonus films!!! Like I said, 1968 was a great year for horror.
Bonus #1: Koreneko aka Black Cat (Directed by Kaneto Shindô)
IMDB plot: Two women are raped and killed by samurai soldiers. Soon they reappear as vengeful ghosts who seduce and brutally murder the passing samurai.

Bonus #2. The Witchfinder General (Directed by Michael Reeves)

Holy hell, I told 1968 was good year. This year you get five spooky pictures for the price of three. I hope you enjoyed your stay. Don't forget to leave a trail of breadcrumbs back to here to finish out the 1960s with 1969. Stay creepy. xoxo

Witches, Maniacs, and Russian Ghosts. The Horrors of 1967

What does Audrey Hepburn, Sharon Tate, and a Russian priest haunted by beautiful corpses have in common? They make up my favorite spooky films of 1967.

1967

1. Wait Until Dark (Directed by Terence Young)
IMDB plot: A recently blinded woman is terrorized by a trio of thugs while they search for a heroin-stuffed doll they believe is in her apartment.

2. Eye of the Devil (Directed by  J. Lee Thompson)
IMDB plot: Workers employed at a French vineyard quietly follow old pagan rituals that call for the life of the marquis owner to save his crops during dry seasons.

3. VIY (Directed by Konstantin Ershov, Georgiy Kropachyov)
IMDB plot: A young priest is ordered to preside over the wake of witch in a small old wooden church of a remote village. This means spending three nights alone with the corpse with only his faith to protect him.

Alright my lovelies, thanks for visiting my lair. Be sure to return tomorrow with extra spooky snacks for the horror of 1968. xoxo
