Fancy a Pint of the Dead, Remake of the Dead, Torture Porn of the Dead. The Horrors of 2004.

Why do zombies keep returning? Not just from the grave but also in popularity in media and film. There were the early voodoo and witchcraft controlled zombies of the 1930s. The slow, creeping, flesh eating living dead of the 60s-80s Romera era zombie. The spastic, fast, plague infected zombies of the early 2000s. And finally the present zombies, the dying end of the once again slow moving Walking Dead rotting off the bone type of television flesh eaters. Zombies never seem to die. We seem to get bored and bury them for a while but they always tend to rise from the grave with something to say. Usually it's just "bbbbbrrrraaaaiiinnnsss". That's just what they do. Truthfully, I'm glad they never stay dead for too long. I'd miss them. You can't keep a good monster down.

Bonus Films!!! It was a good year for foreign horror and foreign horror remakes. Creepy in the tunnels, creepy in the closets, and creepy in your camera. I feel like every film in this years list should end with "... of the Dead".

Creep ...of the Dead (Directed by Christopher Smith)
IMDB plot: Trapped in a London subway station, a woman who's being pursued by a potential attacker heads into the unknown labyrinth of tunnels beneath the city's streets.

The Grudge ...of the Dead (Directed by Takashi Shimizu)

Shutter ...of the Dead (Directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun, Parkpoom Wongpoom)
IMDB plot: A young photographer and his girlfriend discover mysterious shadows in their photographs after a tragic accident. They soon learn that you can not escape your past.

Whew that was a lot of scary. See you tomorrow for 2005. xoxo
