Giant Lizards, Mouth Slugs, and Hello Nurse! The Horrors of 2006.

Welcome to freakshow creepers and crawlies! Who doesn't love a good creature feature? Everyone wants to see the monster until it's too late. Being swallowed whole and excruciatingly digested by a giant slug sounds like a terrible way to go. The creature flicks of the 1950s started to fall out of favor for more ghostly and satanic affairs of the 1960s. Aside from Japan pumping out Godzilla pictures every other year the giant monster genre was dead. Until now that is. Look no further because the monsters are back in town thanks to Korean filmmaker Bong Joon Ho. The Host is a glorious return to the days of giant slimy beasts eating everyone in sight and people running for their lives. On the flip side, Slither brings another kind of creature show all together. Instead of one giant monster its thousands of little slugs that turn you into the monster. Total gorefest. Lastly there is of my favorite video game series turned film. Okay, it's not a perfect movie. There is some atrocious child acting. "Silent Hill! Silent Hilllll!!!"  That said, I just love the atmosphere and super creepy creatures straight outta the games. The soundtrack is spooky and great too. Pyramid head is super creepy and those nurses.... yikes.
