Pazuzu and Pea Soup, Don't Drink the Water, and Burning Man Gone Wrong. The Horrors of 1973

Welcome creeps, creepettes, creepos, and creepazoids. I was so looking forward to this year because it houses one of my top three ever horror films. Can you guess which one? Here's a hint: "Your mother sucks cocks in Hell, Karras, you faithless slime." Woah! I was 9 years old when I first saw it. I managed to sneak it through in one of my Friday "you can pick out two VHS tapes to watch from the video store" nights. I almost peed my pants I was so scared. I was raised with serious Catholic guilt drilled into my brain so that didn't help. I remember drawing crosses all over sheets of paper and tucking them under my blanket when I went to bed. Well, I didn't get possessed (that I know of) and I'm here now to pass the terror on to you.

1973

1. The Exorcist (Directed by William Friedkin)
IMDB plot: When a 12-year-old girl is possessed by a mysterious entity, her mother seeks the help of two priests to save her.

2. The Crazies (Directed by George A. Romero)
IMDB plot: The military attempts to contain a manmade combat virus that causes death and permanent insanity in those infected, as it overtakes a small Pennsylvania town.

3. The Wicker Man (Directed by Robin Hardy)
IMDB plot: A puritan Police Sergeant arrives in a Scottish island village in search of a missing girl who the locals claim never existed.

I told you this was a good year for scary movies. Tomorrow we'll take a look at the spooky movies from the year of my birth. Another one of my faves is on that list. Well, I'll saw you tomorrow. ;) xoxo
