1978 is one of the those years that killed it in horror. Several of my top ten films came out this year. Halloween is a film I can watch over and over and will never get sick of. It is a perfect horror film. Who the hell doesn't know about Michael Myers? Dawn of the Dead is the best zombie film ever made. Change my mind! Both John Carpenter and George Romero were at the peak of their careers this year and created two of the best horror films ever. The you have one of my top five favorite sci-fi/horror films ever made in Invasion. That scene with the "dog"! A brooding spooky affair that will leave you paranoid and shivering. Dig in.
1978
1. Halloween (Directed by John Carpenter)
IMDB plot: Fifteen years after murdering his sister on Halloween night 1963, Michael Myers escapes from a mental hospital and returns to the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois to kill again.
2. Dawn of the Dead (Directed by George A. Romero)
IMDB plot: Following an ever-growing epidemic of zombies that have risen from the dead, two Philadelphia S.W.A.T. team members, a traffic reporter, and his television executive girlfriend seek refuge in a secluded shopping mall.
3. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (Directed by Philip Kaufman)
IMDB plot: When strange seeds drift to earth from space, mysterious pods begin to grow and invade San Francisco, California, where they replicate the residents into emotionless automatons one body at a time.
Alright creeps. I told you this was a good year. See you tomorrow when we finish out the spooky 70s with the spooktacular 1979. xoxo
