The Horrors of 1962

 

1962 was a little bit of a drought year for horror. Slim pickings indeed, although there are a couple of gems worth watching. The themes this year are ghostly dudes with killer eye makeup, creepy baby Bette Davis, and Mexican vampire wrestling. Damn, too bad that isn't all in one film. That would be insane.

1. Carnival of Souls (Directed by Herk Harvey)

IMDB plot: After a traumatic accident, a woman becomes drawn to a mysterious abandoned carnival.

2. What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (Directed by Robert Aldrich)

IMDB plot: A former child star torments her paraplegic sister in their decaying Hollywood mansion.

3. Santo vs. The Vampire Women (Directed by Alfonso Corona Blake)

IMDB plot: A professor recruits a professional wrestler to protect his daughter from vampires intent on kidnaping her and marrying her to the devil.

Alright, ghouls and goblins. There's 1962 for you. Yeah, #3 was a bit of a wildcard. By no means is it a good films but damn it's enjoyable to watch. See you tomorrow for 1963. xoxo
